Massage Therapist: is a Private Practice for you ?

One of the most important decisions that a newly graduated massage therapist is required to consider is the place or the organization for which he will like to work. At present there are several different opportunities for massage therapist to indulge in their profession like hospitals and rehabilitation centers, spas and massage parlors and also in luxury cruise ships. Or he can also decide for a private practice and work independently from his home without getting attached with any organization. Depending upon the available time a massage therapist can also work for an organization and develop his personal practice simultaneously.

But like every other independent professional private massage therapy practices too have both advantages and disadvantages and prior to taking a final decision it is always better to be acquainted with them. As he is not associated with any organization a private massage therapist keeps whatever he earns and don’t share with the organization he is working with. Time is another major advantage. Private massage therapists can work for as long as they want and if they are working from home they also cut down their cost of travelling and enjoy better financial prospects.

On the other hand, the most important disadvantage associated with a private practice is the vulnerability of the practitioner to mal-practice suits and he is better to have massage therapist insurance. Moreover one is also required to procure a license for a private practice and eligibility criteria for a license may also vary considerably from one city to another.
